About Chrissie

Welcome to Yoga with Chrissie! I'm Chrissie. My aim is to help you find that little bit of time and space for yourself to move mindfully. I offer online classes - both live and on-demand classes, and in person classes in Cardiff.

I took my first yoga class primarily as a form of exercise and a way to improve flexibility to balance my running and cycling. Although I felt the physical benefits very quickly, it was the mental and emotional benefits that kept me going back for more!

The holistic nature of yoga has helped me recover from recurring injuries, manage chronic illness, cope with stressful life events (lockdown anyone?) and find a bit of peace - even if only for a few minutes.

You may not think it to look at me, but I manage pain, due to injury and a connective tissue disorder. I was signed off sick for months at one job because the pain meant I could hardly walk. I couldn't sit, stand or lie down for any length of time without pain. I do my best to manage it. Some days are better than others but it is always there, niggling away.

My style is inclusive and adaptable. Sometimes challenging, I like to take a playful approach to yoga. I think it is important to increase strength and flexibility, both on and off the mat, and yoga is a wonderful way to do this. My classes have an emphasis on mindful movement and body awareness.

I take a functional approach to yoga, over aesthetics. My motto is, it isn't what it looks like, it's what it feels like that matters. The depth of your yoga pose doesn't mean you are "better" at yoga. How your body looks in a pose doesn't mean as much as how your body feels in a pose. Your version is the only expression you need.

I am a firm believer that if you can breathe, you can do yoga. I am enthusiastic about sharing all of the joy that yoga has to offer and I am passionate about making yoga available to everyone, no matter their personal, physical, financial or social situation.

I look forward to meeting you where you are every day.

Chair Yoga

A form of yoga that adapts traditional poses to be practiced while seated or standing, using a chair for support and stability. It's perfect for those with mobility limitations or anyone seeking a more accessible way to explore the practice of yoga.

Yoga

Strength and Mobility

unique fusion of traditional yoga elements, functional movements, and resistance training. This class targets different muscle groups, providing a full-body workout while promoting a deep sense of relaxation and inner peace. Options for all abilities.

Relaxation

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is a deeply relaxing and meditative style of yoga that focuses on providing support to the body through the use of props. By holding gentle poses for extended periods, you'll activate the body's natural relaxation response, encouraging a sense of deep calm and restoration.

Sitting Meditation

Yoga Nidra

An ancient practice that combines guided meditation, breathwork, and systematic relaxation techniques to induce a state of profound relaxation. You'll remain in a state of blissful awareness between wakefulness and sleep, creating an optimal environment for inner healing and self-discovery.

Flexibility

A specialised class that focuses on elongating and opening tight muscles, releasing tension, and improving joint mobility. Some dynamic exercises and long holds help to increase flexibility and range of motion. Options for all abilities.
